| Missionary Department |
The Missionary Department functions as the lifeblood of Shalem Evangelical Church. The Department is run by a committee which looks after the needs of Senior Citizens and those older members who are less fortunate. Cottage meetings are held for those who are unable to attend church whether they are members or not and especially for those members, the Holy Communion is administered . Missionary work is undertaken by all ages and most of the members of the Church are also members of the Missionary band. Services are usually conducted by the Missionary Department on the fourth Sunday of every month and it is then the responsibility of the Department to engage the congregation in different activities. The department sometimes invites resource persons to do lectures or related seminars and more often visiting preachers are brought in to preach on that fourth Sunday.On the fourth Sunday in October; the Missionaries host the Annual Missionary service when invitations are sent out to several other churches and a programme is put on. This is usually the highlight of the year of activities. The Department visits the Queen Elizabeth Hospital as well as the various District Hospitals in order to carry a little cheer and happiness to those who are patients. In general, the department caters to everybody and endeavours to service the needs of the entire Church. Our intention is to follow the command of our Master "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father; and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost''. |
