Child Dedications

Shalem believes that the care of our childrem from birth to adulthood is critical to the development of our nation.

We therefore encourage all persons to bring their infants to the Church that they can be blessed, and their lives dedicated to God. This is usually done when the child is around one month old.

This practice is distinct from adult baptism, where person are baptised according to their faith and commitment to Christ. We recognise that Jesus was blessed by Simeon as an infant, but was than baptised by John when he became an adult as defined by Jewish law.
Luke 2:27-29
27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,
28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:
(KJV)

Persons wishing to have their children dedicated can call the Church any week day and make an appointment to meet with the Pastor, where they will be instructed in the requirements for this ceremony.

Luke 18:15-16
15 And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
(KJV)
